There is a great challenge to facilitate information to the learners in most creative way, that's why the educators should understand visual media and information and its practice.

mils' reflection
As educators, we really need to understand visual media and
information because we always use this media in teaching. According to Dale’s cone of experience, a
person learns more thru visuals – seeing the actual object/idea presented
rather than just reading and hearing. It has also been said that visuals improve
retention, reading comprehension, thinking and learning skills.
In integrating visual-based media and information in our lesson, we need to consider the ff : appropriateness (Does it suit the learners?), relevance (Is it relevant to the lesson?), face value (Is it interesting? Does it catch the student’s attention?), processing of the visual (How will the teacher present the visual?), materials (Is it cost-efficient?). We can use visual media in subjects such as Math, Language, Reading, Science, and of course, Arts.
Designing visual media in a very critical manner is important because If the visual created/designed is good, and processing is made, students will be able to learn more. As for me, I can share that I really understood the importance of properly designing visuals in our lesson after the discussion in the seminar.
